Repository Policy

Impaxon supports responsible sharing and dissemination of scholarly work. Authors may deposit and share their articles in repositories, personal websites, institutional platforms, and research networks in accordance with this policy and the applicable Creative Commons licence.

1. Policy Statement

Impaxon encourages authors to share their scholarly work widely and responsibly. Articles published by Impaxon are open access and may be deposited, shared, and reused in accordance with the applicable licence displayed on the published article.

This policy applies to preprints, accepted manuscripts, published articles, supplementary materials, and related scholarly outputs, unless a journal or article states otherwise.

2. Preprints

Authors may deposit the submitted version of their manuscript, commonly known as a preprint, on recognised preprint servers, institutional repositories, personal websites, or other non-commercial scholarly platforms before or during submission to an Impaxon journal.

Authors should clearly indicate that the preprint has not yet been peer reviewed. Once the article is published, authors are encouraged to update the preprint record with the full citation and link to the published version on the Impaxon website.

3. Accepted Manuscripts

Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript version in institutional repositories, subject repositories, funder repositories, personal websites, or other scholarly platforms without embargo.

The accepted manuscript should include a citation to the final published article and, where available, a link to the article DOI or official article page.

4. Published Version of Record

Authors may deposit and share the final published version of record, including the publisher PDF, immediately after publication.

When sharing the published version, authors should preserve the complete article content, citation details, licence statement, DOI, publisher information, copyright notice, disclaimer, and publisher’s note.

5. No Embargo Period

Impaxon does not impose an embargo period on the sharing or repository deposit of published open access articles.

Authors may share eligible versions of their work immediately, provided that the applicable licence terms and attribution requirements are followed.

6. Permitted Deposit Locations

Authors may deposit and share their work through appropriate scholarly and professional channels, including:

  • Institutional repositories;
  • Subject or disciplinary repositories;
  • Funder-designated repositories;
  • Recognised preprint servers;
  • Personal or institutional webpages;
  • Research profile pages;
  • Academic networking platforms, where their terms allow lawful sharing;
  • Course websites, teaching platforms, and scholarly communication channels.

7. Attribution Requirements

Any deposited or shared version should include appropriate attribution to the author(s), article title, journal title, volume, article number or page range where applicable, DOI, publication year, and Impaxon as the publisher.

Users should also include the applicable Creative Commons licence statement and a link to the official published version whenever possible.

8. Licence Conditions

Articles published by Impaxon are distributed under the licence stated on the article. Unless otherwise stated, articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.

Reuse, redistribution, adaptation, and sharing must comply with the applicable licence terms, including proper attribution and indication of any changes made.

9. Supplementary Materials

Supplementary files, datasets, figures, tables, code, appendices, and other supporting materials may be deposited and shared where permitted by the applicable licence and where no third-party rights, confidentiality restrictions, ethical limitations, or legal obligations prevent sharing.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that deposited materials do not include confidential, sensitive, restricted, copyrighted, or unlawfully shared content.

10. Third-Party Content

Material within an article that is owned by a third party may not always be covered by the article’s Creative Commons licence. Authors and users must check credit lines, permissions statements, and licence notices before reusing such material.

Where permission is required, users must obtain permission directly from the relevant rights holder.

11. Repository Metadata

Authors and repository managers are encouraged to include complete and accurate metadata when depositing articles. Metadata should include the article title, author names, journal title, DOI, publication date, abstract, keywords, licence information, and link to the published version.

Accurate metadata improves discoverability, citation, indexing, and long-term accessibility of published research.

12. Relationship with Archiving Policy

Repository deposit by authors is separate from the publisher’s own long-term preservation and archiving practices. Impaxon maintains an Archiving Policy describing publisher-level preservation arrangements for published content.

13. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any repository deposit or sharing activity complies with applicable copyright, licensing, ethical, funder, institutional, and legal requirements.

Where articles include confidential information, personal data, sensitive data, third-party material, or restricted research outputs, authors must ensure that sharing is lawful and ethically appropriate.

14. Changes to this Policy

Impaxon may update this policy periodically to reflect developments in open access publishing, repository practices, funder requirements, copyright law, and digital preservation standards.
